FISHING LICENSES
If you are planning to fish while on any trip, you must purchase an Idaho fishing license and carry this on your person while dong so.
This is your responsibility and may be purchased locally from a number of vendors. If you have any questions regarding cost, please contact us.
Fly fishing for spring steelhead or summer rainbow trout
- We are licensed to fish three stretches of the Main Salmon River from Torrey’s Boat launch to North Fork, Idaho.
- Spring steelhead fishing begins in March and runns through mid to late April.
- Summer rainbow fishing by drift boat can be booked late June through August.
- Both trips are booked by the day with our drift boats accomodating two fishermen plus your guide.
- We’ll assist with lodging arrangements in Challis for the spring steelhead season.
- We provide fly rods/reels, flies, tackle, life jackets, experienced fly fishing guide/ boatman, shuttle, hearty lunch and beverages.

- July is the month for the Kings to return to the Upper Salmon River! We offer guided drift boat fishing for all ages and abilities!
- These silvery 15-plus pound fighters are what the Salmon River is known for!
- We can also prepare and freeze your catch for the trip home – check pricing.
- We book trips by the day and we’ll assist with lodging arrangements in Challis.
- White Cloud Outfitters provides specialized rods, reels, bait, tackle, ice, hearty lunch, beverages, life jackets and experienced guide and shuttle.

guided mt. lake/stream fly fishing for hikers
- Hike with your guide into local mountain Lakes in the White Cloud Range for a day of Lake and/or stream fly-fishing.
- We provide lunch, fishing expertise and hand-tied flies for a successful day of “matching the hatch.”
- You provide your rod/reel, waders, wading shoes, day pack and we do the rest.
- You need to be prepared for a moderate hike and you can expect to be fishing anywhere from 6,200 to 8,500 feet in elevation.
